The Serra Negra mountain chain has about 25 km of extension and a maximum altitude of 1,650 m, has several caves, waterfalls, belvederes and pristine forests, as well as rare and threatened species of animals and plants.
The State of Minas Gerais is highly suppressed by pastures and farming, therefore these mountains have immense value to be preserved and protected.
CREATION OF THE SERRA NEGRA DA MANTIQUEIRA STATE PARK - PESNM
PREA participated actively in the creation of the Serra Negra da Mantiqueira State Park – PESNM, whose area cover the mining municipalities of Rio Preto, Santa Bárbara do Monte Verde, Olaria and Lima Duarte.
After completing the technical studies necessary to create a State Park, the Minas Gerais State Forest Institute (IEF/MG) decreed the its existence on 2018, 4th July!
